CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Civil Service Commission (CSC) Regional Director Nelson Sarmiento reiterated Wednesday the need to address and give emphasis to rewards and recognition of local government units (LGU) and government agencies.
“As we progress towards improving public service, rewards and recognition should be an integral part of our operations,” Sarmiento noted.
Sarmiento disclosed the need to enhance and improve the way rewards and recognition is implemented in the bureaucracy.
He cited that with at least 1.9 million public servants now, judging by the nominees on national awards, Honor Awards Program, Lingkod Dangal and Pag-asa, there are still areas to improve in terms of numbers.
“I think if every agency gives more importance to awards and recognition, this will be a happier bureaucracy,” he added.
He said that the rewards and recognition should continue to give value to the efforts of public servants as they are the shining light of the entire agency.
“Things have changed over time and so rewards play a very big factor now,” he furthered.
Among the rewards given during the Honor Awards Program were the Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM) Maturity Level II and Citizen’s Satisfaction Center Seal of Excellence Award.
