RDRRMC prepares for ‘Nina’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Member-agencies of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) are currently preparing for the possible effects of Severe Tropical Storm ‘Nina” in Central Luzon this Holiday season.

“We have just conducted a joint Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment Meeting with the National DRRMC and the RDRRMCs to be affected. We are also activating soon our Regional Response Cluster, Regional Rapid Emergency Telecommunications Team, and Regional Incident Management Team,” Office of Civil Defense OIC-Regional Director and RDRRMC Chairperson Nigel Lontoc said.

Department of the Interior and Local Government has already informed all concerned local government units on updates regarding ‘Nina’ and were instructed to follow the Operation Listo Disaster Preparedness Protocols.

For its part, Department of Social Welfare and Development prepositioned Php8.57 million worth of Family Food Packs in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.

Department of Health likewise prepositioned medicines in all of its provincial offices in Central Luzon.

Department of Public Works and Highways, for its part, prepositioned heavy equipment in landslide prone areas.

And lastly, the Army 7th Infantry Division, Philippine National Police, and Bureau of Fire Protection alerted all their units on the ground for possible rescue operations. (CLJD-PIA 3)
