Tarlac City reiterates prohibition on tricycle plying along national highway.
The Tarlac City Transport and Traffic Management Unit and the Public Order and Safety Office installed signages along MacArthur Highway, which reiterate the prohibition on the plying of tricycles along the said road. That is, except if there is no other alternative road network available. Availment of the exception requires operators to ply only using the side part of the road, thus prohibiting them to use the center highway.
The prohibition is in view of City Ordinance No. 003-011 and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2011-68, which aim to promote road safety since national highways are intended to be utilized by 4-wheel vehicles greater than 4 tons with normal speed exceeding 40 kph./@tarlac.cio
