MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) recently announced that acceptance of mails and parcels in post offices nationwide bound for Maldives and Macau has been temporarily suspended due to airline embargo.
“PHLPost would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused the public. Measures are being implemented by PHLPost in order to assist the public with regard to delay of mails intended for these countries,” the advisory states.
PHLPost said that the issuance of public advisory was done in order to preempt the possible delay of mails intended for Maldives and Macau due to conveyance problems.
Postmaster General Joel Otarra issued a circular to be disseminated to all post offices and area directors nationwide to make sure that all postmasters’, mail couriers and tellers are aware of these notices.
Meanwhile, PHLPost will issue an advisory as to the resumption of mail deliveries to Maldives and Macau as soon as the situation returns to normal. (PHLPOST/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
