CAMILING, Tarlac – With the enactment of Republic Act 10800, the fourth attempt for the university conversion of Tarlac College of Agriculture into Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) was sealed.
Authored by Senator Bam Aquino, it is “an act that mandates the conversion of TCA in the Municipality of Camiling, into a state university to be known as TAU and Appropriating Funds Therefor.”
TAU was officially proclaimed as a university in a recent ceremony at the G.O Teodoro Multi-purpose Center.
The celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass followed by the Inauguration proper attended by the members of the Board of Regents, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) officials and government leaders.
Alongside the Inauguration was the Investiture of the First University President, Dr. Max Guillermo.
“TAU is committed to improve the quality of life through the production of competent graduates and relevant technologies in the service of society,” he reiterated.
Prior to this year’s signing of RA 10800 by former President Benigno S. Aquino III, CHED has already certified the substantive compliance of the institution to university conversion requirements.
“This is a very big step for us. Rest assured that we will maintain our high-quality education in order to produce globally competitive students and leaders,” Guillermo added.
TAU targets massive learning facilities and infrastructure development and envisions being one of the top 500 agricultural universities in Asia. (CLJD/TJBM PIA-3)
