CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – Three suspected drug peddlers, who were on the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council’s (BADAC) watch list, were killed in separate shootout incidents in the cities of San Jose del Monte and Meycauayan on Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna, director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, identified the fatalities as Jovan Magtanong and Alvin Sape alias Bino, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively, in the BADAC watch list of the City of San Jose del Monte, and Jayson Samonte, also known as Barok Geronimo, who was likewise included in the BADAC watch list of Bayugo, Meycauayan City.
Based on the report, an encounter ensued in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the San Jose del Monte police against Magtanong in Block 12, Barangay San Rafael IV at about 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, and against Sape in Barangay San Rafael I, at about 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
“Both suspects opened fire at the operatives when they sensed that they were dealing with police officers. This prompted the police officers to fire back that resulted in their deaths,“ Bersaluna said.
He said Samonte likewise pulled out his gun and fired at the operatives of the Meycauayan City police when he suspected that he was dealing with an undercover agent.
“Our operatives retaliated, and that also resulted in the suspect’s death,” he added.
Recovered at the sites of the shootout were two .38-caliber revolvers and sachets of suspected illegal drugs, the value of which still has to be determined by crime scene operatives of the Bulacan Crime Laboratory.
Recovered from Samonte were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a caliber .38 revolver, and buy-bust money./Manny Balbin (PNA)
