GUAGUA, Pampanga – Four persons, including a child, were pinned to death in a freak accident along the Olongapo-Gapan road in Barangay San Juan Nepomuceno, Guagua town on Friday.

The fatalities were identified as Regalado Saclo, councilor of Barangay Sta. Rita, Lubao, Pampanga; Kathlene Saclo, 29; and Xavien Red Adriel Saclo, 5; and a civilian employee of Guagua police station named as Richard Dayot.

Police identified the injured as Riza Faith Narciso and Millet Tamayo, non-uniformed personnel assigned at the Guagua police station; Alex Gil Mamaril and one Noel Alagan. Others are still not identified as of press time.

According to reports, the Isuzu Tractor Head with flatbed trailer (RCH-519) driven by one Alexander Pineda, was cruising along the Olongapo-Gapan (OG) road when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The truck swerved to the opposite lane and hit four other vehicles – two tricycles, a silver Toyota Altis (ZCP-906) and a Toyota Fortuner (VC8476) – before plunging into a 15-foot deep canal near the San Juan Nepomuceno Bridge.

The truck, reports said, landed on top of the Toyota Altis where the Saclo family was on board.

Rescue teams have difficulty retrieving the bodies as the car was reduced to a heap.
Tamayo and Narciso on board a Suzuki tricycle with Dayot, miraculously survived.

They were heading to the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO) to attend their Christmas Party.

Pineda surrendered to authorities and is now detained at the Guagua police station pending the filing of multiple homicide offense through reckless driving. (PNA) LAP/ZST/MDDR
