WASD, Tarlac Mayor talk on possible eSports historical event in Tarlac City

TARLAC CITY – WASD made initial propositions to hold another ‘first’ in the history of Tarlac City. As early as January next year, they will start taking steps to launch the first eSPorts league in the City of Tarlac.

WASD was featured last October 6, 2016 at the Tarlac City Information Office Facebook page as a mark of respect for the Tarlaqueño owners who have made history in the country’s e-gaming industry for being the host of the first ever server of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the Philippines. The CS:GO servers are actually hosted here in the city.

The WASD bosses, Victor Zamora, Kenneth Saunders Jr. and Emmanuel Deang, have met with City Mayor Maria Cristina Angeles on November 10, 2016 to talk about their possible partnership in hosting a national CS:GO championship.

This will be an open competition for teams in the entire country. Zamora said they are planning to begin at the barangay level then proceed to the provincial and regional eliminations. The top four will then compete in the national CS:GO championship which is being proposed to be held here. The winner will represent the Philippines and will be sent to international competitions.

The said historical eSports event will possibly be one of the highlights in line with the cityhood anniversary celebration here in April next year.

The only important factor to be able to join the competition is the skill learned in playing CS:GO. The registration will be announced soon on the FB page of WASD (www.facebook.com/playonwasd). Its official website will likewise be launched in January next year.

“There are no other requirements for as long as you know how to play the game and know how to aim and shoot,” said Zamora.

“Start forming your teams now and start playing so that you can excel on this competition,” Saunders advised the Tarlaqueños.

Zamora said it is important to start practicing. He said a team here might have their ‘winning day’.

According to Zamora, a team who was born in WASD has competed against Mineski at the E-Sports and Gaming Summit at the SMX Convention Center-Mall of Asia last October and if the competition here pushes through, another team might make it big./Tarlac CIO
