392 kilograms of ‘hot meat’ seized

TARLAC CITY — A total of 392 kilograms of meat, unsafe for human consumption, was confiscated at the City Uptown Market at 2:00 am, January 19, 2017.

This was the result of the joint operation held by the City Veterinary Office headed by Dr. Julieta Parairo, City Meat Inspection Office headed by Jesse Alejandrino and Police Community Precinct (2) headed by PSupt. Bayani Razalan.

“We confiscated 378 kilograms of pork meat and 14 kilograms of chicken meat just before consumers flock to the market to buy food for their fiesta celebration to keep the buying public safe,” Dr. Parairo said.

The seller failed to present a meat inspection certificate.

The seized “hot meat” will be burned and disposed of properly.

The selling of double-dead meat is illegal due to the disease that might be transmitted to humans that is why a case was filed against the seller.

Consumers are encouraged to always check the meat to determine if it is safe and to always look for the meat inspection certificate of the stall owners.
