TARLAC CITY – National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) and Philippine Information Agency (PIA) recently conducted its fifth and final Culture and Arts Promotion Campus Tour at Dapdap High School (DHS) in Bamban town.
This is a component of the NCCA-PIA Culture and Arts Promotion in Central Luzon, which aims to inspire the students in promoting the artistry and cultural identity of the region.
“Our goal is to preserve, promote and enrich artistry and traditions of the provinces and at the same time promote the various programs of NCCA through these Campus Tours,” PIA Regional Director William Beltran said.
Anchored on the theme “Ikarangal ating Lahi, Kamanahan ay Ipagmalaki,” it featured discussions on the Role of NCCA in preserving and developing culture and arts, Significance of Culture Today, and Culture and Arts in Central Luzon.
Php20,000 worth of culture and arts books was likewise donated to DHS Star Books Library and various Information, Education, and Communication materials on government programs and projects were distributed to the faculty and students.
In behalf of the DHS community, Officer-in-Charge Dr. Rupert Patangui Jr. expressed his gratitude to the benefactors and urged the students to use books as reliable sources and references instead of surfing the Internet.
A similar activity was held in Potrero High School in Pampanga; Tarlac State University; Central Luzon State University; and Aurora State College of Technology. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
