PIA official enjoins TAU community to embrace ASEAN as its ‘extended community’

CAMILING, Tarlac – Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Regional Director William Beltran enjoined students of Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) to embrace the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as its extended community.

“We want Filipinos to embrace ASEAN as our extended community. A Community that provides a peaceful and decent life, a Community of Opportunities,” he said during Friday’s ASEAN Campus Forum.

“Youth, this is your generation—your era. Youth are effective multipliers of information. Through the availability and accessibility of the social media, the youth can effectively disseminate information, and that is vital in raising awareness on the ASEAN Community,” Beltran furthered.

TAU was the fourth campus PIA visited after Tarlac State University, Central Luzon State University, and Aurora State College of Technology.

Other educational institutions it will visit this year include Bataan Peninsula State University, Ramon Magsaysay Technological University, Pampanga State Agricultural University, and Bulacan State University.

Each forum features discussions on the Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural Community Pillars of the regional bloc. (CLJD/CJVF-PIA 3)
