MANILA – Presidential sisters Kris Aquino and Victoria Aquino Dee both contributed to the campaign kitty of Vice-President-elect Leni Robredo.
Based on the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) of the outgoing Bicol Representative, the TV host/actress donated Php 30.8 million while Kris’ older sister gave Php 1 million.
The other supporters that donated Php 10 million each to finance Robredo’s campaign included Eduardo Borromeo Cu Unjieng, Peter Garucho, Jose Baltazar Buenaventura and Wellington Lim.
Based on the SOCEs submitted by the Vice-presidential candidates, Robredo was in the top spot for incurring Php 418,664,130.60 in expenses followed by Senator Chiz Escudero with Php 321,014,827.64.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano was in third place with Php 189,129,872.48; outgoing Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., Php 140,539,366.34; Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Php 61,896,067.36 and Senator Gringo Honasan, P26,259,899.20.
On the other hand, losing presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe also has her share of multi-millionaire supporters that backed her campaign to the highest post in the land last May 9 polls.
According to her SOCE, the lawmaker’s highest contributor was Oscar Valera with Php 50 million, followed by Poe’s mother, Jesus Poe, a.k.a. Susan Roces, with Php 25 million.
Odilon Sta. Teresa and Maria Delas Mercedez Zobel gave Php 20 million each while Marvin Go donated Php 15 million, Mario Santos Tan, Bryan Villanueva and Ramundo Escalona contributed Php 10 million each.
Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections-Campaign Finance Office (Comelec-CFO), which was tasked to receive the SOCEs from winning and losing candidates in the just concluded polls, reported that 13 senatorial bets failed to submit the said document.
They are: Senator-elect Franklin Drilon, Shariff Albani (Ind.), Raft Alunan (Ind.), Levito Baligod (Ind.), Mel Chavez (WPPPMM), Ray Dorona (Ind.), Larry Gadon (KBL), Eid Kalablu (Ind.), Mark Lapid (Aksyon), Dante Liban (Ind.), Romeo Maganto (Lakas), Sergio Osmena III (Ind.), and Jovito Palparan (Ind.)./PNA/RMA/FGP/EDS
