CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Department of Education (DepEd) Central Luzon personnel are rendering services to public schools in preparation for the June 13 opening of classes as part of the National Schools Maintenance or Brigada Eskwela 2016.
The annual activity themed “Tayo Para sa Paaralang Ligtas, Maayos at Handa Mula Kindergarten Hanggang Senior High School” aims to encourage all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort and resources to ensure that all public school facilities are ready for the coming school year.
“This activity primarily aims to make schools disaster-prepared, ecologically conscious, clean and conducive to learning,” DepEd Regional Director Malcolm Garma said.
He added that in the region, the activity has become a way of DepEd employees to pay homage to their respective alma mater by doing cleaning and maintenance works in schools where they graduated.
Aside from the maintenance works, public senior high schools shall also focus on the enrollment of incoming Grade 11 students within this given time.
Groups or individuals from the national government agencies, local government units, private sector, international organizations, volunteers and other parties are also encouraged to take part in this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
The weeklong activity commenced on May 30 and will end on June 4./(CLJD/MJLS-PIA 3)
