Bataan town declares state of calamity due to effect of ‘habagat’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The municipal town of Dinalupihan in Bataan province was placed under the state of calamity on Friday due to flooding that adversely affect the lives, properties and livelihood of residents.

In a resolution, the Sangguniang Bayan of Dinalupihan said the declaration would hasten the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts of the municipal government.
The declaration of the state of calamity was recommended by the Dinalupihan Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) following the week-long heavy rains that caused flooding in various barangays that affected more than 20 percent of the residents and caused widespread destruction to livestocks and agricultural products.
Due to the thunderstorm advisory issued at 4:30 a.m on Friday, classes in Dinalupihan town from day care to senior high school, both private and public, were remain suspended as declared by Mayor Gila Garcia.

Dinalupihan is the first town in Bataan that was put under the state of calamity and the fifth in the entire Central Luzon.

The four areas that were earlier placed under the state of calamity are the City of San Fernando and the municipalities of Macabebe, Sto. Tomas, and Minalin, all in Pampanga./(PNA) JMC/ZST
