Bulacan Guv Urges Police to Help PDEA Crush Dope Menace

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado urged the Bulacan police force not to let the success and the big gains of their all-out-war against the dope menace go to naught by supporting the campaign now being waged by the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The governor made the call after convening the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) on Thursday morning at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center here.

Alvarado, who is the provincial PPOC chairman, took notice of the report of Bulacan acting police director Romeo Caramat Jr., that the police have already identified the main source of the mind-altering drug methamphetamine hydrochloride which is popularly known as “shabu”.

Caramat said that according to their informants, mostly hardcore pushers who surrendered at the height of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP’s) Oplan Double Barrel and “Oplan Tokhang” drive, the supply of shabu being peddled in Bulacan comes from a southern Tagalog town.

He said that this happens because drug dealers in Bulacan cannot afford to score wholesale in Pampanga “that is why they have to go to Southern Luzon where they can buy the dope in retail price.”

Caramat also told the PPOC chairman that at least half a kilo of shabu is being consumed daily in Plaridel and Pulilan towns.

Upon learning about this, Alvarado told Caramat to coordinate with PDEA and neutralize these drug dealers by sharing to them vital intelligence and information.

“We have already gained many grounds in our no-nonsense campaign to rid this province of the dope menace. We must not let our guards down because this will make those drug traffickers more daring again,” Alvarado said.

The PDEA was tasked by President Rodrigo Duterte to oversee the government’s anti-drug drive while the PNP cleanse its ranks of rogue cops. (PNA)LAP/ZST/EGGAMOS
