CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) received 168 consumer complaints in the third quarter of 2016 with majority related to cellphones.
“Our Regional Office and seven provincial offices received 34 cellphone-related complaints during the period. The other most complaint products were refrigerators at 18, television sets-11, automobile and motorcycle with 10 each, and laptops-7,” DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles said.
Among the DTI Offices in Central Luzon, Bulacan had the most complaints with 35 followed by Bataan with 34, and Zambales-25.
“As the holiday season approaches, we continue to remind our consumers to carefully read the labels to ensure the correct direction for use, the originality of the brand, the address of the dealer and manufacturer, and the correct electrical power source, and duration of charging,” Angeles stressed.
For mandatory products, buyers are advised to look for the Philippine Standards Mark for locally made and the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) hologram sticker for those coming from other countries.
The list of accredited brands with valid ICC stickers and their corresponding serial numbers may be viewed at www.dti.gov.ph. (CLJD-PIA 3
