Central Luzon cops prepare for ‘Undas’

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga–Some 6,000 police personnel will be deployed in different cemeteries and transport terminals in Central Luzon to ensure peace and order during the observance of All Saints’ and Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2, respectively.
Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus, regional director of the Police Regional Office -3 (Central Luzon), said on Tuesday the move is to ensure zero crime incidence during the observance of Undas 2018.
Corpus said the police personnel would work hand-in-hand with the military, barangay multipliers, and volunteers from non-government organizations (NGOs) to implement security measures before, during and after the annual observance.
He said that motorist assistance centers with road safety marshals in major thoroughfares and secondary roads in the region will also be established to guarantee public safety and security.
“I have directed our city and provincial directors in the region to continuously conduct police focused operations and sustain the level of alertness and vigilance as well as to ensure maximum police presence in all places of convergence, including churches . Also, the entire Philippine National Police will be on full alert status,” he said.
Likewise, he said that provincial and city police directors would implement more active security measures in public facilities and other vital installations as some groups may take advantage of the event for harassment and other violence.
Meanwhile, he reminded the public to be wary and alert so as not to give lawless elements the opportunity to carry out their nefarious activities.
“Our police will also establish and implement police patrol in coordination of the barangay watchmen to look after unattended homes where family members are expected to go to the cemeteries,” he said.
The PRO-3 chief also advised the public to immediately report any untoward incident to the police./Zorayda Tecson (PNA)
