Central Luzon PESOs bag national awards

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Oct 31(PIA) — Central Luzon Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) bagged most of the top prizes during the recently concluded PESO Awards Night in Davao City.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita said Central Luzon’s entries won five out of eight categories set by the Bureau of Local Employment for the outstanding performances of PESOs in 2017.
Masinloc town in Zambales placed first along with Polomonok, South Cotobato and Angono, Rizal in the 1st-2ndClass Municipality category.
“PESO Masinloc, which won this award for the third straight year for its notable performance on its core services, is now hailed a Hall of Famer,” Angara-Campita disclosed.
Moreover, PESO Mabalacat was hailed co-winner in the Component City category with Panabo City. This is the second time Mabalacat has won the award.
PESO Olongapo topped for the second time the Highly Urbanized City category, sharing the award with Valenzuela.
Tarlac took home the prize in the 1st Class Province category for the very first time. It shared the award with Iloilo which has been enshrined into the Hall of Fame.
And lastly, Bulacan State University bested three other nominees under the Job Placement Office category.
PESO Llanera in Nueva Ecija, a first-time national nominee, was only a few points short in bagging the 3rd-4th Class Municipality category.
DOLE Regional Office III and Tarlac Field Office were likewise given special recognition for their effective implementation and advocacy of the PESO Employment Information System.
National level winners received a trophy and cash prize of Php100,000 while their respective local chief executives were also given recognition.
Meanwhile an additional P150,000 was given to winners which received the Hall of Fame status or those who won as Best PESOs for three consecutive years.
“The PESO entries from different parts of the country were rated on the following criteria: core services, DOLE programs implemented, awards received, and active involvement in employment-related organizations,” Angara-Campita disclosed.
The Search for the Best PESO is an annual event that recognizes significant contributions and outstanding accomplishments of PESOs in the implementation of DOLE employment and welfare programs. (CLJD-PIA 3)
