TARLAC CITY — Mayor Cristy Angeles awarded the cash prize of P30,000.00 to Dr. Ma. Carmela Go, City Health Office, and CHO staff for beating the other entries at the First Adobo Fest Competition which was held in celebration of the 19th Charter Anniversary of Tarlac City.
The most sought-after Filipino dish was showcased at the said event, which was participated in by the employees of the different departments of the City Hall.
The competition held on April 28, 2017 at the San Sebastian-San Vicente Bypass Road which, was packed with spectators and visitors from all over the City, was also graced by the Senate Committee Chairman on Science and Technology and Committee Chairman on Education, Culture and Sports, Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV.
The traditional adobo recipe was tweaked by the participants with other ingredients such as seafood, egg (even ‘balot’), chicken and quail.
The competition was also made even more festive by the music and entertainment provided by the City Tourism Council and sponsors.
Mayor Cristy awarded the second prize of P20,000.00 with City Tourism Officer III, Wilfredo Toldanes, to the City Engineer’s Office and the third prize of P10,000.00 to the Public Order and Safety Office during the flag raising ceremony of the City Government Employees on May 8, 2017.
“This year’s Adobo Fest is actually a dry run of a much bigger event of the same nature next year which may be participated in by other prospective establishments or Tarlac City residents,” Adrian Dennis Vega of the Tourism Council explained to those who were interested to join even before the competition./Tarlac CIO
