CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Around 2,000 boxes of substandard and defective Christmas lights amounting to Php 300,000 were destroyed Wednesday by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pampanga.
“This is to remind the public to avoid buying substandard and uncertified Christmas lights that are dangerous to life and property,” DTI Provincial Director Elenita Ordonio said.
The defective products were confiscated from the major trading centers in the cities of San Fernando and Angeles.
She likewise confirmed that these Christmas lights were imported from China and were possibly smuggled.
With these, she reminded consumers to always check the labels and quality before purchasing the products.
While retailers were urged to only sell quality products that comply with the standards law.
“Violators of this law will be fined and penalized. We will also confiscate all their uncertified products,” she warned. (CLJD/TJBM PIA-3)
