Finally, Paniqui LTO chief kicked out

Gerona, Tarlac – – This is long overdue.
This was the comment when news came out that the chief of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) extension office was kicked out from her post.
Estella Nicolas, the erstwhile head of the Paniqui LTO, was fired after her “nefarious activities” were documented by Bitag TV program hosted by Ben Tulfo.
Bitag video footages show Nicolas receiving daily “payola” from the testing clinics surrounding the LTO office. According to an unnamed complainant, Nicolas is being paid P70 for every drug test, blood type, and other license-related laboratory requirements issued by the LTO-accredited clinics.
The complainant claim their group issue 80 to 200 clinical results daily, meaning P5,600 to P14,000 everyday.
For several months since 2016, Nicolas was on the news for allegedly “protecting” the more than 200 colorum UV vans which all pass her LTO office daily.
Bernie Fajardo of the Tarlac-Moncada-Gerona-Paniqui Transport Servicer Cooperative (TAMOGEPA), the biggest jipney transport group north of the province, said, “mahigit 2 taon kaming pabalik-balik na nagrereklamo sa kanya para hulihin at patigilin ang mga colorum vans na matagal ng pumapatay sa aming lehitimong hanapbuhay, ngunit wala siyang ginawa. Hindi raw nila mahuli-huli ang mga colorum”.
“Kapag nagre-renew kami ng rehistro, naniningil din siya ng P1,000 na “inspection fee”na walang resibo. Matagal na dapat siyang tinanggal sa puwesto, mabuti sinibak na siya ngayon. Siguro naman mahuhuli na ngayon ang mga colorum at mawawala na corruption sa LTO Panioqui”, added Fajardo.
The Bitag video on Nicolas, subtitled “Panoorin ang nangyaring pag-sibak sa dorobong Paniqui Tarlac LTO chief”, became viral. The same video became the basis of DOTR officials to fire her.

Nicolas was fired last month, but his replacement, Ariel Camiling, has yet to lift a finger on the colorum UV vans.
