Tarlac City – With 3 explosions in Quiapo and 2 in Tarlac, is grenade throwing now a fad among criminals?
This is the question being asked by many as 3 suspected grenade throwers in 2 recent separate incidents were identified and charged in court here.
In Capas, the 2 suspects who lobbed a grenade at the Capas Police Station were identified as Jerick Carlo Allerey, aka JAY SUNDALO, a former military personnel, of Barangay Cristo Rey, Capas, and a certain Garu Tanglao of Barangay Manlapig, Capas, Tarlac.
Allegedly, a fragmentation grenade was thrown by them at the front door of the Capas police station last May 1, around 12:20 AM. The station’s glass pane and a parked motorcycle were damaged but no one was hurt.
The suspects’ identities were established from CCTV footages and by eye witnesses.
While in this city, Roger Caparas, of Calle Onse, Barangay. Maligaya was positively identified as the one who threw a grenade at the house of Primo Lucban, also of Barangay Maligaya last May 3 at around 12:55 AM.
According to PCInsp Augusto Pasamonte, Chief of the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch, a witness, who is Lucban’s neighbor, personally saw Caparas throw the grenade.
The witness’ identity was requested withheld for security reasons.
Pasamonte also reported that all the 3 suspects were charged before the Provincial Prosecutors Office here.
The separate incidents of grenade throwing in Tarlac came into news limelight with the reports of series of bomb explosions in Quiapo area in Manila.
Last week, during the ASEAN Summit, a bomb exploded in Quiapo where a person was killed and several others injured. Yesterday, Quiapo district was again marred by 2 explosions killing at least 2 people and injuring at least 6.
“When a police station is bombed, there is either a very strong organized group in the area, or the lowly criminal gang, or individual crime personalities, see the police organization as weak and vulnerable”, said a netizen referring to the throwing of grenade at the Capas police station./More news at http://www.Facebook.com/Central-Luzon-News-Center
