PENARANDA, Nueva Ecija – Town Mayor Ferdinand Abesamis offered on Saturday a PHP100,000 reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of a couple and wounding of a teacher in Poblacion 1 here last week.
Abesamis said he shelled out his personal fund to see to it that justice would be delivered to Jerry Abesamis,48, businessman and his spouse Alicia, 47, of the said village.
Wounded was Lea Reyes, 23, teacher and resident of Krus Na Ligas, UP, Diliman, Quezon City.
Investigation showed the victims were eating inside a kitchenette when shots were fired by the suspects “with no apparent reason”. The gunmen fled on board a black sedan.
Reyes was hit by stray bullet and undergoing treatment at a local hospital, police said.
Investigators recovered from the crime scene eight spent shells from cal. 45 pistol.
The local chief executive also sought the creation of a special investigation team and establish a command center to expedite the resolution of the case.
Meanwhile, Police Senior Supt. Antonio Yarra, Nueva Ecija police director, ruled out politics as possible motive of the killing.
Jerry Abesamis ran and lost for vice mayor in last year’s elections. Yarra said that in a follow up investigation, it showed that the victim had no more interest of running in the next polls.
