TARLAC CITY – City government of Tarlac has launched a campaign meant to improve the provincial capital’s compliance to the Ecological Solid Waster Management Act and strictly enforce its Anti-Littering Ordinance. “Clean City, Tarlac City campaign seeks to promote citywide cleanliness so that our residents can avoid diseases such as dengue,” Mayor Maria Cristina Angeles said. Under this, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office would conduct fora on garbage segregation and compost making. “We also plan on enforcing the No Segregation, No Collection Policy and form Clean City Marshalls who would monitor and sanction violators of this campaign,” Angeles added.
Angeles also is also investigating the contract entered into by former Mayor Gelacio Manalang with Metro Waste Corp, the company that hauls city thrash to be dumped at Kalangitan Landfill in Capas.
Angeles aims to have a clean Tarlac City in her first 100 days in office./(CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
