Ms. Tessie Lagman – Balboa, a native of Tarlac, an icon in the field of radio broadcasting and one of the greatest voices in the 70s will perform on the 29th of November (Tuesday) along with other artists at the general assembly and cultural night of the senior citizens at the Tarlac State University gymnasium.
Ms. Tessie began her broadcasting career at DZXT in 1964 when she was still in high school. She then joined DZTC when she was in college.
In the early 70s, she discovered another hidden talent and joined a popular singing contest and a television show, the “Tawag ng Tanghalan”. She held the top spot for five weeks.
This paved the way for her singing career. Her most popular song was a cover of Jose Feliciano’s “Once There Was A Love”.
Ms. Tessie, however, chose broadcasting over her singing career. She spent more time on the radio and was offered to be a part of ABS-CBN as radio singer and actress in the program, “Operetang Putul-Putol”. She then transferred to RBS Radio and was eventually offered a radio show over DZBB with German Moreno.
At present, Ms. Tessie still has a radio magazine show, “Sama-Sama, Salo-Salo.”Tarlac CIO
