TARLAC CITY – A total of 150 marginalized students in Capas town recently received their Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) checks from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
DOLE Tarlac Field Office Head Aurita Laxamana said the beneficiaries, mostly college students, rendered duty in the town’s barangays for 22 days as enumerators.
“Our SPES beneficiaries were tasked to profile household information needed by the municipal government’s Community-Based Management System which is a system vital for their planning and formulation of interventions intended for its constituents,” Laxamana explained.
Each beneficiary received P3,593.22, which is DOLE’s share or 40 percent of total salary as the remaining 60 percent was shouldered by the municipal government.
SPES is a flagship program of DOLE that enables poor but deserving students pursue their education while experiencing the real world of work./Trixie Joy B. Manalili(CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
