CITY OF SAN FERNANDO , Pampanga– At least 300 drug suspects voluntarily surrendered Thursday to Arayat town mayor Emmanuel “Bon” Alejandrino as he vowed to make his town drug free in a span of 30 days.
This move, Alejandrino said is also in adherence to the call of Governor Lilia Pineda in promoting peace and order in the province and in compliance with the priority of the new national leadership.
In a phone interview with Mayor Alejandrino aired at RW 95.1 FM through the morning show “Pampanga, Kaluguran Daka,” he confirmed the compliance of those drug suspects to his warning and appeal to voluntarily surrender.
“If, we, elected local officials, will follow President Duterte’s mandate to get rid illegal drugs in six months, that problem will immediately be eliminated,” he said.
It was also revealed that those drug suspects have sworn before Mayor Alejandrino that they will stop using prohibited drugs and pledged full cooperation to undergo rehabilitation.
Alejandrino asserted the 100 percent cooperation of the police in his town in combating crimes.
The mayor also said that he envisions Arayat to become a city with peace and discipline as key factors to achieve this goal.
Meanwhile, Governor Pineda, during Thursday’s mass oath-taking of elected officials in this province, firmly stated that the local officials should unite and work hand in hand in fighting drugs as this will help in the fast development of Pampanga./PNA/FFC/ZST/JM/PS
