Cabanatuan City’s 2nd most wanted falls in Capiz

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – The long arm of the law has finally caught the second most wanted person of this city who has been in hiding for two and a half years.

Donald Punzalan Buyo, who was tagged in the killing of a certain Marxin Bernardino of Barangay Valdefuente here on April 7, 2014, was arrested in Pilar, Capis which is over 1,000 kilometers away from this city.

Police Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, on Friday said the operation to arrest Buyo was hatched upon receiving a tip off on his whereabouts.

“When we got a tip that Buyo was hiding in Pilar, Capiz, we immediately asked the assistance of the police in that town,” Zafra said even as he attributed fast communication brought by the provision of mobile phone from the Philippine National Police headquarters.

“It has the mobile numbers of all the chiefs of police in the country,” Zafra noted.
Records showed Buyo allegedly stabbed to death Bernardino near his house in Barangay Valdefuente. His alleged cohorts, Gemar John Alvaro and Joshua Espiritu, were immediately arrested.

Zafra said Buyo hid his identity by sporting beards and half-shaven hair.
“The lesson here is one cannot really hide from law,” he added.(PNA)LAP/ZST/MEG
