CHO personnel, PNP nurses undergo training on screening of drug users

TARLAC CITY – Personnel from the City Health Office (CHO) and Philippine National Police (PNP) nurses underwent intensive training on how to screen users of dangerous drugs this morning, September 27.

Facilitated by CHO head Dr. Carmela Go, the training was attended by 35 participants who will be part of the Drug User Screening Team of Tarlac City following the war-on-drugs initiative of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Go, who herself underwent training last August 10, said that the activity is specifically meant for the evaluation of individuals who surrendered during the Tokhang project – the Duterte Administration’s conduct of house-to-house visitations to suspected illegal drug users and pushers in the city.

As of September 11, at least 2,404 users and 106 pushers surrendered in Tarlac City and need to be assessed and classified into distinct categories to determine the kind of treatment they must undertake.

The training also includes a practicum that will be held in Barangay Matatalaib this afternoon, where the participants will conduct assessment on actual surrenderers there.

Go stated that the schedule of screenings would be Tuesdays and Fridays, starting on October 7, after they have clustered the city’s 76 barangays./Tarlac CIO
