Cops Recover Stolen P175k Jewelries, CP From 3 Kids

Paniqui, Tarlac – – The parents should be blamed for these very young thieves.

Thus, said PSupt Joel Mendoza when the police here recovered P175,000 worth of jewelries and a cellphone stolen by 3 kids aged 11, 12 and 13 years from 2 houses named as Juan, Pedro and Jose, respectively.

In his report to Tarlac Police Director PSSupt Ritchie Posadas, Mendoza identified the victims as Teresita Sumaong Adams and her brother Alexander Sumaong who live in a family compound in Barangay Samput.

Adams was robbed of her jewelries inside her bedroom in her own house last August 16, while Sumaoang of his cellphone also inside his own house yesterday.

The 3 kids, who all also live in Barangay Samput, were nabbed when they robbed Sumaoang whose house is just next to Adam’s.

Caught on the act of stealing from Sumaoang, the trio admitted stealing Adam’s jewelries inside her bedroom in August 16, around 2PM. Their admission led police investigators to where they “pawned” the jewelries.

Recovered were a piece of antique ring worth P50,000, 2 lady’s rings worth P15,600, a 24K wedding ring worth P20,000, a pair of gold earring diamond stones worth P22,500, a piece gold necklace P15,000, and a gold necklace with ruby pendant worth P30,000.

Ervin Ganuelas of Barangay Estacion, who was charged of the Anti-Fencing, said the jewelries were pawned to him by the 3 kids for only P1,000.

Another necklace worth P22,500 was retrieved from an unnamed “buyer” who bought the item for only P1,000.

Sumaong’s cellphone was also regained from the 3 kids.

Mendoza revealed that the 3 Children in Conflict with Law (CICL) were charged before the Tarlac Provincial Prosecutors Office but being minors they were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development officer of this town and were not put to jail.
“Nakapanghihinayang ang mga suspects, kababata pa nila pero nagnanakaw na. Mukhang ang mga magulang nila ang dapat sisihin sa mga gawain nila”, said Mendoza./ Nelson Bolos
