DTI opens toll packaging and food processing facility

CAMILING, Tarlac – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently opened a Php3 million worth packaging and food processing facility inside Tarlac Agricultural University.

“We thank the DTI for providing the facility that would benefit the micro, small, and medium enterprises here in the province,” TAU Vice President for Research Tessie Navarro said.

She likewise diclosed that they intend to undertake research and development of new products which would maximize the use of the facility which is equipped with vacuum packaging machine, conveyor, bottle capping, pasteurizer, and dryer among others.
For her part, DTI Provincial Director Agnes Ramirez said the facility was funded under the Shared Service Facility (SSF) program of the agency.

SSF is a strategy adopted to achieve the goal of the National Industry Cluster Capacity Enhancement Project which is to set up common production centers in order for Small and Medium Enterprises in priority industry clusters gain access to better technology and more sophisticated equipment thereby increasing their competitiveness, consequently affecting their contribution to the national economy./CLJD-PIA 3
