Tarlac City – – Shabu destroys your life.
This was the lesson learned too late by a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) after he and to others were arrested in police buy-bust operations last Friday.
In his report, PSupt Joel Mendoza identified the apprehended ex-OFW “drug pushers” as Rommel Manalili, 41, of Barangay Canan, here, who was arrested at his house together with his nephew Jasper Aquino, 19.
Mendoza’s report to PSSupt Ritchie Posadas also says arrested in a separate entrapment was Rodolfo Yu, 42, of Barangay Poblacion Sur.
In an interview during their inquest at the office of the Tarlac Provincial Prosecutor, Manalili disclosed that he used to work for 8 years at the Diego Garcia Island US Naval base.
He said he got hooked to shabu 2 years ago and his life has since changed. He admitted selling the illegal drug to sustain his addiction.
He was entrapped at his own house together with Aquino.
On the other hand, Yu admitted having used illegal drugs since 1990’s and was arrested for possession of Marijuana in 2002.
Because of addiction to drugs, Yu said he lost interest to have a family and remained single.
Manalili said he wished he could go back to his old work in Diego Garcia but could no longer do so because of drug addiction.
Aquino, Yu and Manalili were charged for selling and possession of illegal drugs or Section 5 of Republic Act 9165. They are prohibited from posting bail and are detained at this town’s police station./Nelson Bolos
