Hindsight – Gibo Teodoro! So the Judiciary is not a co-equal of Congress?

They say hindsight is 20-20 vision.

Now I clearly understand why the Honorable former Presidential Candidate Sir Gibo Teodoro (also a Cojuangco scion) had refused the repeated invitation of PDigong when no less than the President publicly confirmed on national TV that he had indeed invited Sir Gibo to be his Secretary for National Defense. This invitation was on more than one occasion and in fact according to the President he even gave Sir Gibo ample time to think about it.

Can you imagine yourself refusing such an illustrious and powerful (some say profitable) cabinet secretary position?

In the own words of the President, he had said that he truly liked Sir Gibo as he had previous dealings with him and since Sir Gibo was also his lawyer, and that they know each other pretty well.

So there you have it my dear readers, now we know why the smart, astute and pragmatic Mr. Gibo had refused to accept the invitation. After having seen and experienced the kind of President we now have, it is no wonder Sir Gibo said NO to the offer. Surely, Sir Gibo would not have wanted to be in the shoes of the now DND Secretary.

This is of course all conjecture on my part. While I do not personally know Sir Gibo, I have always looked up to him as a true intellect, no doubt about that Sir Gibo, refusing to be DND Secretary was one darn smart move. Forget the numerous patay-gutom officials that abound by the thousands who will at a whim and command of their master sell their soul to Tanny!!!

Mabuhay Po Kayo Sir Gibo Teodoro!!!

******

I would like to address this proposition to the numerous lawyers out there. If anyone of you would be kind enough to enlighten this Humble Columnist regarding the recent pronouncements of the Speaker of the House that the Court of Appeals is not even a co-equal branch of government and according to the Speaker they are a mere creation of Congress.

I always thought that the CA was part of the Judiciary which in turn is a co-equal branch of government. That being the structure I had always understood. Where does that leave the CA? If not part of the judiciary, therefore, the Speaker can also abolish the Supreme Court and more so the lower Courts? Until I get further clarification on this matter, I will reserve bowing my head to the almighty Speaker Pantalon Alvarez.
