No firecracker-related incident in Tarlac City

TARLAC CITY– The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) Officer-in-Charge Hensel Quilling said there were no firecracker-related incidents reported and responded to during the celebration of New Year here.

In the report of Quilling, it was stated that a composite team was established and an incident command post was situated in front of the main entrance of the Tarlac City Hall on December 31 until New Year’s Day.

CDRRMO closely coordinated with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (LDRRMC), partner agencies and other composite teams posted in other significant areas in the metro and several barangays. The groups consisted of workforce from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), Ecumenical Christian College Emergency Medical Services (ECCEMS), UNTV News and Rescue Team, Tarlac Mountaineering Club, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Tarlac Police Station, Tarlac City Bureau of Fire Protection, City Engineer’s Office, City General Services Office, Public Order and Safety Office and City Environment and Natural Resources Office.

Only a few cases not related to the indiscriminate use of firecrackers were recorded.
Three (3) were injured in a head-on collision of motorcycles in front of the City Uptown Market, two (2) were injured from the vehicular accident at Sunrise Subdivision, Matatalaib. Both incidents transpired on New Year’s Eve.

The shooting incident resulting to four (4) casualties was likewise reported on New Year’s Eve and the police are continuously investigating on the said incident.

The two (2) other cases reported on January 1, 2017 were self-inflicted motorcycle accidents due to alcohol intoxication while the individuals involved in the stabbing incident in front of Louie’s Grill in San Rafael are still under investigation.

The zero incident report was the result of the intensified advocacy campaign of the administration of Mayor Cristy Angeles with the help of other agencies for a safe celebration of New Year’s Day./Tarlac CIO
