No scheduled brownout during holidays: NGCP

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has finished all its preemptive and maintenance works in Central Luzon areas way ahead of the holiday season to spare consumers interrupted celebration.
Ernest Lorenz Vidal, NGCP regional corporate communications head, told the local media here on Friday that the company is done with its scheduled power interruption for this year.
“In the remaining days of the month (December) ay wala pong naka-schedule na power interruption ang NGCP (the NGCP has no scheduled power interruption) “ Vidal said.
“Lahat po na naka-schedule na pertaining to our maintenance activities ay na-implement na pong lahat (All the schedules pertaining to our maintenance activities have already been implemented),” he added.
But in case of an emergency or an un-scheduled interruption caused by unexpected occurrence, Vidal said NGCP linemen and personnel are ready to work at the earliest possible time.
He, however, called on the public to refrain from conducting activities that may adversely affect lines and power distribution.
“Sana po iwasan natin yung pagkakaroon ng mga activity malapit sa mga transmission lines ng NGCP, especially this coming New Year, uso ang mga paputok. Sana huwag tayong magpapaputok malapit sa mga facilities ng NGCP dahil posible po itong mag-cause ng unscheduled power interruption (Let us avoid having activities near the transmission lines of the NGCP, especially this coming New Year where there are some fireworks because this would possibly cause unscheduled power interruption),” Vidal said. /Marilyn Galang (PNA)
