Tarlac Supermarket Robbed of P5-M; Baguio-based Suspects Nabbed

Camiling, Tarlac – – Just like in the movies. Robbers bore a hole through 2 adjacent buildings, opened up all the vaults and took millions of cash.

Members of a criminal gang based in Baguio City recently robbed the largest supermarket here of around P5 Million cash. However, all the 5 suspects of the “well-planned and daring” robbery were arrested.

In the report submitted to Tarlac Police Provincial Director PSSupt Westrimundo Obinque, robbed of millions of cash was the Save Wise Supermarket at this town’s main commercial district.

The Baguio City-based crime group gained entry by destroying the concrete wall on the supermarket’s 3rd floor through the adjacent LBC building using a hydraulic jack and drilling tools.

All the safety deposit vaults at the 3rd supermarket’s third floor were pried open with acetylene torch and the cash stashed away.

The report says, 3 of the suspects were trapped at the supermarket’s third floor and were arrested by responding policemen.

Those arrested were Joel Saiyan y Duragis, 31 years old, Howard Bawingan y Siblangan, 37, Sherwin Bayawei y Yamat, 35, all from Barangay Irisan, Baguio City.

Kelles Balonglong y Maitang, 35 and Sheryl Padua y Bugawit, AKA “Ashley”, 38, were apprehended in a follow-up police operation.

The report does not say how much of the P5 Million was recovered from the arrested 5 robbery suspects. Police Investigator-on-case, PO2 Jonathan Juanica, refuses to answer calls from this writer.
