Yap, capitol employees undergo drug testing

Capitol Hill, Tarlac – In support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s all-out-war against the drug menace, Governor Susan Yap and Vice Governor Carlito David led capitol department heads and employees in undergoing a drug test.

The unannounced mandatory drug testing among provincial government employees and officials was conducted on July 11-12 at the capitol’s Bulwagan ng mga Gubernador.

The Tarlac Police Provincial Office’ Crime Laboratory conducted the testing.

Provincial Human Resource Management Office head, Cecilia Panlican said that all of the 2,353 capitol employees including provincial elected officials and department heads were subjected to the drug testing. She said that once an employee is tested positive, a confirmatory test will still be undergone at the Philippine National Police [PNP] Crime Laboratory.

“All of the employees including the job orders were subjected to the drug test, and once an employee was tested positive, a confirmatory test will be conducted at Camp Crame,” Panlican said adding that if indeed confirmed positive, the employee will be dropped from the service and an administrative charge will be filed.

According to Police Chief Inspector Jessica Quilang of the Tarlac Police Crime Laboratory Office, team leader that conducted the drug test, the testing kit and urinal bottles used were provided by the provincial government.

In a statement, Yap said she has to make sure that no one among the province’s service providers are engaged in illegal drugs and are not involved in the illegal drugs trade.

“We want to make sure that there no one among capitol employees uses drugs and no one is involved in illegal drug trade,” Yap said./ABL-PIO
