CAPITOL HILL, Tarlac – More than 200 Tarlaqueños from the three municipalities and lone city of the second district of Tarlac have benefited from the Skills Training for Employment Program (STEP) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
STEP is a community-based specialty training program that seeks to address the specific needs of the communities and promote employment, particularly through entrepreneurial, self-employment and service oriented activities.
Governor Susan Yap, together with second district Rep. Victor Yap and TESDA officials awarded the certificates of completion and starter tool kits to the 200 STEP beneficiaries during the ceremony held at the Bulwagan ng mga Gobernador here.
The beneficiaries underwent a three-month training.
Aside from starter tool kilts, the PHP60 daily allowance was also released to the beneficiaries after the completion of their training which they can use as seed capital to start their livelihood undertakings.
TESDA Provincial Director Ben-Hur Baniqued thanked the provincial officials for their contnued support and urged the beneficiaries not to stop until they realize their dream of success.
Some of the trainings being offered by TESDA’s STEP are service automotive electrical components leading to automotive servicing NCII, performed diesel engine tune-up leading to automotive, test and repair wiring/lighting system NCI, shielded metal arc welding NCI, install wiring devices/install lighting system and RAC servicing air-conditioning NCII.
The STEP beneficiaries are from the municalities of Victoria (40); Gerona (25); San Jose (25); Tarlac City (89) and TESDA Provincial Training Center (24)./PNA/FPV/ZST/HT
