CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A former Pampanga town mayor, a village chief and three others were arrested on Wednesday in a raid conducted by police operatives in Barangay Cacutud, Arayat town, in this province.
Joint operatives of Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) -Pampanga, Special Action Force and Arayat Municipal Police Station arrested former Arayat Mayor Luis “Chito” Espino; Chairman Rosendo Dizon of Barangay Cacutud, Arayat and three unidentified persons following the implementation of a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and prohibited drugs.
A member of the raiding team assigned at the PNP Special Action Force sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg during a brief exchange of fire between police authorities and the group of Espino.
The raiding team barged inside the residential compound of Espino at around 5 a.m. Wednesday to serve the search warrant. However, they met strong resistance from Espino’s side that resulted in an exchange of gunfire.
Confiscated from the suspects were an M16 assault rifle, three pieces of caliber . 45 pistol; a 9mm calibet pistol; three hand grenades, several ammunition and six sachets of suspected shabu.
The suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Angeles CIDT Office for filing of approriate charges and proper disposition. (PNA)LAP/ZST/RKM
