Tarlac City– The Provincial Government of Tarlac through its Provincial Tourism Office recently held its ceremonial lighting of holidays lights at the Maria Cristian Park.
Mr. Arsenio Lugay, Provincial Tourism Officer, said the event is part of the celebration of the holiday season. “Aside from the ceremonial lighting we also three activities, the 1st Christmas Choral Competition, the 2nd Christmas Painting Competition and the 3rd Parol Making Contest. We hope that these contests bring out not only the participant’s competitive nature but a camaraderie strengthened by the spirit of Christmas.”
Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap, Vice-Gov. Carlito David and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan were present to support the event.
Winners of the choral competition are: Elementary category – 3rd Place, Dicolor Children’s Choir (Gerona), 2nd Place San Vicente Elem. School (San Manuel) and 1st Place, Pura Community Children’s Choir (Pura). In the High School category – 3rd Place, San Roque national High School Chorale (Bamban), 2nd Place Corazon C. Aquino High School (Gerona) and 1st Place, Dominican Colleges Tarlac (Capas).
In the Christmas Painting Competition High School category – 3rd Place, Karen Faith Nuguid, 2nd Place, Irhyz Pagala and 1st Place, Wenjell Mallari. While in the college category – 3rd Place, Eugene Brugasin, 2nd Place, Jean Marc Viduya and 1st Place, Mike Ashlee Abueme.
The Vice-Governor’s choice for the painting contest went to Trisha Kaye Dela Cruz while the Governor’s Choice went to Jay-Ar Yumul.
Winners of the Parol Making Contest are: 3rd Place, San Manuel (plus p25,000), 2nd Place, Bamban (plus p35,000) and 1st Place, San Jose (plus p45,000) . All the town which participated received a consolation prize of p5,000 each.
During the event the newly renovated capitol atrium was also opened as well as the newly renovated Diwa ng Tarlak./Tarlac Tourism Office
