Lacson unfazed of being listed among NAPOLCOM ‘narco pols’; confident of being cleared of ‘baseless’ accusation

Concepcion, Tarlac – – Truth shall prevail.

Thus, said Mayor Andy Lacson who remained unfazed after being listed by the National Police Commission as among the 18 mayors tagged as involved in illegal drugs and remain confident that he will be cleared of the “baseless” accusation.

“Ni minsan hindi pa ako gumamitng droga at pinapatunayan ng mga mamamayan ng Concepcion na hindi ako involve sa droga o ano mang illegal na gawain. Kaya bakit ako magpapadala sa resolution ng NAPOLCOM?”.

Last October 30, NAPOLCOM issued a resolution tagging 4 Central Luzon mayors of involvement in “illegal drugs activity/trade” which includes Camiling Mayor Erlon Agustin, Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.
However, Lacson denied the NAPOLCOM’s “baseless accusation” and, apparently, the people of his town do not believe he is into drugs as they hold series of rallies manifesting their support to their mayor.

The Tarlac League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP Tarlac) and Association of Barangay Chairmen also issued separate resolutions declaring their “unequivocal support and confidence” to Lacson.

Earlier, Moncada Mayor Lita Aquino commented, “the NAPOLCOM resolution is a lie, we stand solidly behind mayors Lacson and Agustin, they are decent and clean leaders”.

“Sa record ng kapulisan, malinis ang pangalan ko at binigyan pa nga ako ng commendation ng PDEA Region 3 for our successful campaign against illegal drugs. Kaya business as usual, patuloy lang ang aking paninilbihan sa aking mga kababayan”, Lacson said.

Last June 17, the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 3 Director Ishmael Fajardo came to this town and personally handed a special commendation to Lacson and to former police chief Luis Ventura for “exemplary contribution in the national government’s campaign against illegal drugs” which included the arrest of 3 barangay councilmen and 2 municipal employees.

A ranking police officer stated that, “an adjudication is being conducted by national agencies” to reinvestigate Lacson’s inclusion in the NAPOLCOM list.

“Kahit wala ako ngayong supervisory power sa local police, may tiwala ako kay (police chief) Supt Mike Guzman na mapapanatili niya ang peace and order. Tiwala din ako na darating ang araw na lalabas ang katotohanan na wala akong kinalaman sa droga”, Lacson added./Nelson Bolos
